The 32-year-old Rajasthani man who was arrested in Karnataka for allegedly threatening superstar Salman Khan has said that he was a big fan of Lawrence Bishnoi and idolised the gangster. Accused Bikharam Bishnoi had threatened to kill Salman Khan and sought a ransom of Rs 5 crore. Sources said a Worli police team interrogated Bikharam Bishnoi.

His interrogation also revealed that the accused used to regularly watch Lawrence Bishnoi's videos and he was proud of what Lawrence was doing for the Bishnoi community from inside the jail. The accused said: "Salman Khan never apologised for whatever he did; be it the case of crushing people sleeping on the pavement with a car or the hunting of a blackbuck."

Salman Khan was accused of rash and negligent driving, which resulted in the death of a pavement dweller and injuries to three others in 2002. He was, however, cleared of all charges in 2015. The blackbuck poaching case refers to the 1999 hunting of the animal during the shooting of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in Rajasthan's Jodhpur. He was acquitted in the case in 2022.

Blackbucks are considered sacred by the Bishnoi community, due to which he has been repeatedly threatened by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Why Bikharam Bishnoi Sought Rs 5 Crore From Salman Khan?

The accused in the extortion case, Bikharam Bishnoi, earlier called up the Mumbai Traffic Control Room and said that Salman Khan should either pay Rs 5 crore or visit the Bishnoi community's temple in Rajasthan and apologise for his purported "crimes". Bishnoi said: "Whatever Lawrence Bishnoi is doing is right. I have no regrets about going to jail, I am going to jail for the Bishnoi community."

Bishnoi claimed that he would have used the money (Rs 5 crore) to build a temple for the Bishnoi community.
