New Delhi: Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar said crimes like mob lynching could stop if people stopped eating beef. This shocking comment by Kumar came days after a man was lynched on suspicion of cow smuggling in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. While talking to media on Monday, the RRS leader who is an executive committee member of the RSS, said not a single religion in the world approves killing of cows. Kumar reiterated that the government must act on such crimes and there must be a law for such issues.

He also emphasised the role of ‘sanskar’ (values) for dealing with such problems, according to the report by the Indian Express. According to Kumar, society also needs the right ‘sanskar’ to deal with the problem. “Mob lynching can’t be welcomed…if the practice of eating cow meat is stopped, many such crimes of the ‘Satan’ could be stopped,” he was quoted as saying.

While commenting on the mob lynching incidents in various parts of the country, Kumar said that any mob lynching incident is condemnable. Kumar also has condemned the recent assault on social activist Swami Agnivesh but said that nobody has the right to hurt sentiments of others. Agnivesh was beaten up at Pakur in Jharkhand on July 17 allegedly by members of BJP-affiliated youth groups who accused him of speaking against Hindus. "It is wrong and condemnable. But nobody has the right to hurt others' sentiments in the name of freedom of expression," Kumar told in a press conference.
