New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh today condemned the sacrilege incident that took place in the Golden Temple on Saturday, reported ANI.
A statement by Dattatrey Hosabale, General Secretary of the RSS reads, “The incident of contempt of Shri Guru Granth Sahib that took place on December 18 in Golden Temple Amritsar is unfortunate. RSS gravely condemns it. Shri Guru Granth Sahib and Shri Guru Parampara are our shared heritage and a subject of faith and is also India’s wealth of knowledge. The forces which make the society fight among themselves are conspiring for it and continue to do so. Strict action should be taken against conspirators by exposing them, and the society should not allow any hindrance in mutual harmony due to such incidents.”
A man was beaten to death by irked devotees after the man was allegedly attempting to commit sacrilege at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday, reported ANI. The incident had taken place during the evening prayers when a man jumped over the metal railing, with a sword inside, the sanctum sanctorum and allegedly attempted to desecrate the Guru Granth Sahib.
"Today, one 24-25-year-old man barged inside Golden Temple where the holy book (Guru Granth Sahib) is kept. He tried desecrating it with a sword and was escorted out by the Sangat people. He later died in an altercation,” said Parminder Singh Bhandal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Amritsar City.
The officials later declared that the man was dead. Further investigation into the incident was underway.
