New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Laly Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav announced on Monday that he will resign soon. Taking to Twitter, Yadav wrote, “I followed in my father's footsteps. Gave respect to all the workers, I will submit my resignation soon after meeting my father.”

The announcement by the Bihar MLA came days after the controversy sustained over Bihar politics after CM Nitish Kumar attended an iftaar party at Lalu Prasad Yadav's residence.

Tej Pratap had added fuel to the fire by saying that “Earlier, I had put a ‘no entry’ board. But now it has been replaced with ‘Entry — Nitish Chacha ji.’… There are ups and downs in politics. Sometimes, Nitish Kumar would be up and we would be down, and vice-versa. Now that Nitishji is warming up to us, we can think of forming a government.”

However, any speculations of RJD and JD(U) coming back together were dusted by Nitish Kumar who said that it had nothing to do with the politics, and he only attended the iftar party because he was invited.

“We all attend such events. My presence has nothing to do with politics at all. Since I was invited to the event, I attended it. We also hold Iftar parties and invite everyone to it,” Kumar had said.

A day after the iftar party, Kumar had welcomed Union Minister Amit Shah at Patna airport for his two-day visit to the state.

Meanwhile, recently, Tej Pratap Yadav was also accused of abusing and beating up RJD workers at the same party.
