Republic Day 2024: Extensive security arrangements have been made in the national capital for the Republic Day celebrations to ensure. The Delhi Police said on Wednesday that around 14,000 security personnel will be deployed in and around Kartavya Path, where the Republic Parade will take place on January 26. Security has been stepped up to ensure the safety of the 77,000 invitees expected at Kartavya Path to watch this year's parade, according to officials.


During a press conference at the Delhi Police headquarters, Special Commissioner of Police (Security) Dependra Pathak briefed about the security arrangements and said that professional, robust, and flawless security arrangements have been put in place all around Delhi for Republic Day, as reported by news agency PTI.


Pathak stated that the security, traffic, and district units are working together in coordination with the central security agencies for the January 26 celebrations, as reported by PTI. He also said that about 14,000 security personnel with focused and defined roles and responsibilities will be deployed at the main operational area of the Kartavya Path.


The Commissioner said that commandos, quick reaction teams, PCR vans, morchas, anti-sabotage checks, and SWAT teams will be deployed at the specific strategic locations at Kartavya Path and all around the city, as reported by PTI. He also said the Delhi Police is prepared in a professional manner to avert any emergency.


Camera And Foot Soldiers To Keep Eye At Every Corner


On being asked about the number of CCTVs, Pathak said that the exact number of cameras cannot be shared, but with the use of the best technology, cameras and foot soldiers will keep an eye on every corner of the venue, PTI reported. He also stated that the Delhi Police is prepared to tackle the aerial threats as well.


The police have ensured that peace prevails in Delhi's "vulnerable" areas following Monday's consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Pathak said, adding that peace is being maintained in the border areas with the help of interstate coordination.


At least 77,000 invitees are likely to be present at the venue to attend the parade, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, Zone II) Madhup Tiwari said. "We have divided the New Delhi district, where the parade will take place, into 28 zones to ensure security. Each zone is headed by the DCP or additional DCP-level officers," Tiwari said, as quoted by PTI.


Speaking about the security arrangements, Tiwari further stated that missing persons booths, helpdesks, first-aid kiosks, and separate facilitation booths where the visitors can deposit their vehicle keys before the parade have been set up. He also urged the people to reach the venue on time and cooperate with the security personnel during the thorough checking that will take place.


On the question of checking shoes at the entry point, Tiwari said "frisking" will take place. Tiwari further said the force is on high alert to keep a tab on the areas of high footfall and the bordering areas of Delhi.


Border Of Delhi To Be Sealed From 10 PM On January 25


Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) HGS Dhaliwal said the border of Delhi will be sealed from 10 pm on January 25, and the entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted, as reported by PTI. He further stated that the traffic in many areas of the city will be affected as diversions will be put in place from the morning of January 26.


To ensure smooth management of traffic, Dhaliwal requested that the people coming to witness the Republic Day parade use the park and ride facility and maximum public transport to reach the venue.


All Districts Have Made Necessary Arrangements: Special CP Law and Order, Madhup Tewari 


On Republic Day security arrangements, Special CP Law and Order, Madhup Tewari said that all the districts have made necessary arrangements regarding the January 26 parade and celebrations.

New Delhi district has planned extensive arrangements. The area has been divided into 11 zones which will be headed by DCP or Additional DCP. 8,000 police personnel will be deployed for this...Missing person booth, help desk and several other arrangements have been made for the public coming to witness the parade."
