During the Republic Day Parade, 18 recipients of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar were spotted driving down the Kartavya Path in open-top cars. The awardees this year included 9 boys and 10 girls from 18 states and union territories of India.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Award is conferred upon children in the age group 5-18 years possessing exceptional abilities who have made outstanding achievements in the fields of bravery, sports, environment, science and technology, innovation, art and culture, and social service.
The awardees were Aaditya Vijay Bramhane (posthumous) for bravery, Anushka Pathak, Armaan Ubhrani, Anushka Pathak, Arijeet Banerjee,Hetvi Kantibhai Khimsuriya, Md Hussain, and Pendyala Laxmi Priya for Art and Culture, Aryan Singh for Science and Technology, and Suhani Chauhan for Innovation. Avinash Tiwari, Jyotsna Aktar, Garima, and Saiyam Mazumder were awarded for their social service. In addition to this, Aaditya Yadav, Charvi A., R. Surya Prasad, Linthoi Chanambam, and Jessica Neyi Saring received the award for their excellent performances in the sports category.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and congratulated all the awardees on January 23 at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. He also presented souvenirs to each of them and listened to the details of their achievements, for which they were awarded. Some of the subjects like culture, solar power, chess, and badminton, among others were discussed at the gathering.
While engaging in a freewheeling interaction with the awardees, he answered the questions asked by children and shared his love for all kinds of music.
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is given by the Government of India every year in the week preceding Republic Day. Each awardee is given a medal, a certificate, and a citation booklet.
This year, the ceremonial function was held at Vigyan Bhawan on January 22 where the President of India awarded the 19 children selected for their exceptional achievements in the seven categories listed by the government.
