The national flag of India, the tricolour has been unfurled at Punjab's Attari border on Thursday as India celebrates its 74th Republic Day. Soldiers of the Indian army unfurled the flag while the National Anthem played in the background. Everyone's heads were held high with pride as they looked up at the tricolour flying in the air.
News agency ANI posted a minute long video showcasing this event. In the video, we can see soldiers of the Indian Army paying respect to the pride of the nation as they saluted the flag during the National Anthem.
The Republic Day parade, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM, will showcase a blend of the country's military strength and cultural diversity, highlighting the country's increasing indigenous capabilities, female empowerment, and the emergence of a new India. The ceremony will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial, where he will lead the nation in paying respects to fallen heroes by laying a wreath. Afterwards, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries will proceed to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path to view the parade.
As per tradition, the national flag will be unfurled, followed by the national anthem and a 21-gun salute. This year, the 21-gun salute will be given using 105-mm Indian Field Guns, marking a departure from the use of vintage 25 pounder guns, and reflecting the growing emphasis on self-reliance in defense. Four Mi-17 1V/V5 helicopters from the 105 Helicopter Unit will also shower flower petals on the audience at Kartavya Path.
