The customer care department of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received a hoax threat call in Maharashtra at around 11 am on Saturday. The Mumbai Police has registered a case regarding the same and a probe is underway. The call came on the helpline number on Saturday and the caller threatened to blow up the RBI with a bomb, NDTV reported citing sources.


The caller said he was the "CEO" of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group and sang a song over the phone before issuing the threat. Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan also received extortion calls recently.


On November 14, a flight from Nagpur to Kolkata had to make an emergency landing at Raipur airport in Chhattisgarh following a bomb threat. The plane was taken to an isolated bay at the airport for checks. An investigation is underway.


Soon after the aircraft made the emergency landing at Raipur airport, the flyers were evacuated and the plane was searched thoroughly. The entire operation took about 40 minutes.


A passenger was detained after the incident. According to the primary information, aircraft crew members were informed by a passenger about the bomb when the flight was mid-air.
