Ramgarh (Rajasthan): Congress candidate Shafia Zubair who tasted success by winning the Ramgarh assembly seat said that people here rejected BJP’s negative politics and bestowed faith on the Congress’ positive message. Speaking exclusively to ABP News after clinching the Ramgarh by over 12,000 votes, Zubair said people appreciated the manner in which the Congress implemented the farm loan waiver scheme.

Zubair said Ramgarh which had a blot on it due to communal reasons has now been wiped with the emergence of Congress.  She attacked the BJP for polarising the environment and the political campaign. “BJP did not do any development; all they did was to create acrimony between communities.”

She admitted she benefitted from the formation of the Congress government in the state recently. “I feel I had a 10% advantage over the opponents as people told me they want to vote for me since Congress is in power.”

Zubair has trounced BJP’s Sukhwant Singh. BSP candidate and former union minister's son Jagat Singh, a former MLA, is trailing on third position. BJP had blamed the BSP for cutting into its votes.

Ramgarh election could not be held during Rajasthan assembly polls due to the death of the BSP candidate Laxman Singh. As many as 20 candidates contested the Ramgarh election on January 28.
