New Delhi: Hours ahead of Union Cabinet Expansion, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and MoS Woman & Child Development Debasree Chaudhuri have resigned from their respective posts citing health issues.

  


Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Santosh Gangwar have reportedly given health reasons in their resignation letters. If sources are to be believed, there are speculations that a few more ministers are on their way out. 


Sources have informed that Jyotiraditya Scindia could in inducted into the Union Cabinet and appointed as HRD minister as Pokhriyal has tendered his resignation from the post citing health reasons. 


The development has come hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to expand his Union Cabinet later today at about 6 PM.

Meanwhile, those to be inducted into the council of ministers have started reaching PM Modi's residence. Scindia, Sonowal, Pashupati Paras, Preetam Munde, Heena Gavit, Bhupendra Yadav, Meenakshi Lekhi among others have reached the Prime Minister's residence. 


This will be the first cabinet expansion in Modi's government after he came back to power for the second time in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. It is believed that this time 17 to 22 new ministers can join, while some of the old ministers may be relieved. In the expansion of the cabinet, preference will be given to the experience of governance and system.
