In a series of tweets on Thursday, the trust announced that the construction of Ram Temple has begun and engineers from CBRI Roorkee and IIT Madras were testing the soil for the same.

"The construction of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir has begun. Engineers from CBRI Roorkee, IIT Madras along with L&T are now testing the soil at the mandir site. The construction work is expected to finish in 36-40 months," - Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra tweeted.

The trust revealed that Iron won't be used for the construction and "ancient and traditional construction techniques" will be adhered to in a manner that the Ram temple can "sustain earthquakes, storms and other natural calamities".

The Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra has put out the requirements by writing, "copper plates will be used to fuse stone blocks with each other. The plates should be 18 inches long, 30 mm wide & 3 mm in depth.10,000 such plates may be required in total structure".

Calling upon devotees to donate the plates, the trust stated that "Donors can engrave family names, place of origin or their community temples' names on these plates. This way, the copper plates will not only symbolize the unity of this country but also be a testament to the entire country's contribution towards Mandir construction".

The much-talked-about foundation stone laying ceremony was conducted on August 5 in Ayodhya.

PM Narendra Modi began his speech with the chants of 'Jai Siya Ram,' and went on to extensively talk about the significance of Lord Rama in Indian culture after the conclusion of Bhoomi Pujan.

Attendees included RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
