Superstar Rajinikanth said today he would announce his long-anticipated political party on December 31 and launch it in January, ending years of speculation.

Rajinikanth made the announcement a day after he met senior office bearers of his forum, the Rajini Makkal Mandram.

In a tweet, Rajinikanth said that further details of his political party will be announced on December 31, as he promised to bring about an “honest, spiritual government”, hinting towards a “miracle”.

“We will surely win assembly polls and give an honest, transparent, corruption-free, and spiritual politics. A wonder and miracle will definitely happen," he said. With this announcement, today fans of Rajinikanth seem super excited about the next course.

After meeting the district secretaries of the Rajini Makkal Mandram at the actor's Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in the city, he said "District office bearers expressed their opinions. They have said they will agree to whatever decision I take. I will announce my decision as soon as possible."

Earlier in October, a letter claiming to be of Rajinikanth had gone viral saying he was in two minds about his political plans because of his health. The speculation was fueled by a leaked letter. Later the actor took to social media to clarify that it was not his letter but certain things were right. However, he will be taking the decision soon.

Rajnikanth announced last month his entry into politics may be delayed due to his health. His doctors cited concern over campaigning during the pandemic, the actor had been advised to restrict travel since he has a kidney condition and could be vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus. After the demise of the state's two most powerful politicians - J Jayalalithaa of the AIADMK and MK Karunanidhi, there is a vacuum ready to be filled and the growing suspense over Rajinikanth's electoral debut comes just months before the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, to be held in April-May 2021.

With his statements, it was always speculated if Rajinikanth would join BJP or start a party that would support BJP. However, what remains to be seen now is will Rajinikanth be able to give a tough fight ahead of Assembly elections in Tamilnadu.
