Police on Monday stated that a 16-year-old NEET candidate from Uttar Pradesh died after reportedly drinking poison in her hostel room in this coaching hub's Vigyan Nagar district, news agency PTI reported. Priyas Singh was transported to the hospital, where she died three hours later undergoing treatment. Priyas, a resident of Mau in Uttar Pradesh, was a Class 12 student studying for the NEET-UG at a coaching facility in Kota and residing in a dormitory in the Vigyan Nagar area, according to DSP Dharmveer Singh. This is the 24th suicide case by a coaching student this year, and the second this month. Six kids committed suicide in August.
On Monday around noon, the youngster reportedly swallowed a dangerous chemical in her chamber. When she began vomiting, other females in the hostel took her to the hospital, according to the DSP.

Priyas died after around three hours of therapy in the evening, he added.
The DSP stated that no suicide note was retrieved from the room, which was afterwards locked, and that the motive for the girl's drastic action is still unknown.
The corpse has been deposited in a mortuary for post-mortem examination, which will take place when her parents arrive, who have been told about the occurrence, according to the DSP.

Wardens, mess employees, and tiffin service providers are increasingly being recruited by coaching centres to monitor for indicators of depression or stress among students residing in hostels and PG residences. In the aftermath of the recent suicides, the city's district government has advised coaching institutions to halt conducting regular examinations for students studying for NEET and other competitive exams for the next two months, NDTV reported.
