Manvendra Singh, the son of the late Union minister Jaswant Singh, lost his wife in a car accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Alwar on Tuesday while he sustained injuries, as confirmed by officials. The incident unfolded as Manvendra Singh along with his family was traveling from Delhi to Jaipur. According to the local police, the driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control, leading to a collision with the sidewall of a flyover, reported news agency PTI.
Alwar Additional Superintendent of Police Tejpal Singh revealed that the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but it seemed the driver had lost control, resulting in the vehicle hitting the sidewall, PTI's report stated.
The impact of the collision was significant, causing the tragic death of Chitra Singh.
The injured, including Manvendra Singh Jasol and his son, were promptly rushed to Solanki Hospital in Alwar for medical attention. Images from the accident site showed substantial damage to the vehicle. Manvendra Singh Jasol reportedly suffered injuries to his ribs but is in stable condition, Asianet newsable reported. He has been conscious and communicative during his medical care, along with his son and the driver, it further informed.
Chitra Singh's untimely demise has generated an outpouring of grief on social media, with condolences pouring in from various quarters. Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje expressed her sadness on X, offering prayers for Chitra Singh's peace and the swift recovery of Manvendra Singh and his son.
“The news of the demise of Mrs. Chitra Singh, wife of Mr. Manvendra Singh Jasol in a road accident is sad. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and courage to the family. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of Shri Manvendra Singh Jasol and other family members injured in the road accident," former CM Ashok Gehlot wrote on his X expressing condolences.
