The chief of Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) Rajasthan unit Madan Lal Saini passed away on Monday at the age of 75 after prolonged illness.
Saini breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, where he was receiving medical treatment.
He was shifted to Delhi two days back owing to his deteriorating health conditions. Earlier, he was admitted at a private hospital in Jaipur due to infection in lungs.
Born on July 13, in the year 1943 Saini was a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha until his death.
He was a former MLA in Udaipurwati constituency from Rajasthan. He was appointed BJP state president last year.
He was a former MLA and RSS volunteer who held various posts in the Bhartiya Kisan Morcha as well.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the demise of Saini on Twitter. He wrote: “The passing away of Shri Madanlal Saini Ji is a major loss for the BJP family. He contributed to strengthening the Party in Rajasthan. He was widely respected for his congenial nature and community service efforts. My thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
National Working President of Bharatiya Janata Party J P Nadda also expressed his grief. “I am shocked at the news of passing away of my colleague, Shri Madan Lal Sainiji. This is an irreparable loss to the BJP family. Madan Lal Sainiji sacrificed his whole life in the service of the society. God give peace to his charitable soul,” he wrote on Twitter.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot also condoled Saini’s demise. “Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing away of Sh. Madan Lal Saini ji, President of BJP Rajasthan. My thoughts and prayers are with his family members. May God give them strength to bear this loss. May his soul rest in peace”, Gehlot wrote on Twitter.
Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and other BJP leaders went to AIIMS on Monday might to pay last respect to Saini.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that after embalming, Saini's mortal remains will be taken to Jaipur at night. It will be kept at BJP office there from 7.30-10 AM for people to pay their last respects. Then it will be taken to Sikar. The last rites will be performed at 3 PM there.
