Rajasthan: After Twitter Outburst, Sports Minister Meets CM Gehlot, Says 'Cong Family United For 2023'
On Thursday, Chandna had expressed his displeasure with Principal Secretary Kuldeep Ranka. In a tweet directed to Gehlot, he requested to be freed from his 'cruel ministerial post'.
New Delhi: After creating a stir within the Rajasthan Congress by offering to quit, state sports Minister Ashok Chandna met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday for a long discussion and asserted that everything was okay. This comes after he had expressed his anguish towards Gehlot’s Principal Secretary Kuldeep Ranka saying that he should hold all the posts in the state government while Chandna be freed from his post. He also hit out at the opposition BJP by asking the party to take care of its own house.
“There was a meaningful and lengthy discussion on all the subjects with the Honorable Chief Minister. They are the guardians of the Rajasthan Congress family, they will take the right decisions”, Chandna tweeted on Friday.
"The Congress family is united and in mobilisation for #Mission2023," he tweeted in Hindi, referring to the state assembly polls due next year.
On Thursday, Chandna had expressed his displeasure with Principal Secretary Kuldeep Ranka. In a tweet directed to Gehlot, he requested to be freed from his 'cruel ministerial post' and be given to Ranka.
“Honorable Chief Minister, I have a personal request to you that by freeing me from this cruel ministerial post, the charge of all my departments should be given to Shri Kuldeep Ranka ji, because anyway, he is the minister of all the departments”, Chandna tweeted on Thursday.
While speaking to the media Gehlot said that Chandna ’s tweet shouldn’t be taken seriously and may have come out of pressure and the heavy workload he is currently under.
"He is under a huge workload. Maybe he came under tension and made some comments. It should not be taken seriously...will talk to him," Gehlot was quoted as saying by PTI.
"He seems to be working under pressure, such a big responsibility has come on him, will see," Gehlot said.
The Congress backed Gehlot on his views over the minister's tweet.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera in Delhi said CM Ashok Gehlot has given a reply on the matter. He also said that the minister (Chandna ) holds many portfolios which may have forced him to tweet due to the workload on him.
"Our governments work and those who work have tension. We have never seen our prime minister in tension and he is always seen smiling. You can see one who does not work does not have tension, even when petrol rates are going sky high," Khera told reporters when asked about the minister's remarks.
