At least six people were killed, while 17 others sustained injuries after a bus caught fire after coming in contact with an electric wire in Maheshpur of Jalore district late on Saturday night. The incident took place around 10.30 pm yesterday near district headquarters, Chagan Lal Goyal, Jalore Additional District Collector said.


The driver and the conductor of the bus died on the spot, while the four persons succumbed to their injuries during treatment in hospital.

"Seven persons among the 17 injured have been referred to a Jodhpur hospital. However, the driver and the conductor of the bus died on the spot while four succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital," Goyal said.




Devji Patel, Member of Parliament from Jalore, has expressed his condolences. "My condolences are with the relatives of the deceased. May God give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss," Patel said.

It is being told that this bus going from Mandoli to Byawar had lost its way after which the accident happened. The passengers in the bus were reportedly from Mandoli and Byawar. the bus left for Jalore on Friday night. The passengers visited the Jain temple in Mandoli after which the bus lost its way and met with the tragic accident.
