Railway police nabs man with 17 kg gold in Suryanagri Express between Mumbai and Ahmedabad
The man was nabbed by ticket checker on suspicion and later handed him over to RPF.
New Delhi: A person has been caught with gold worth Rs 17 crore in Suryanagri Express travelling between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on Friday morning.
The accused, Manish who was travelling in coach number S9; was carrying the gold parcel worth Rs 17 crore, which he was going to deliver in Surat.
The man was nabbed by ticket checker on suspicion and later handed him over to RPF.
As per police official, Manish told them that he is himself unaware of the amount of gold he was transporting. He further said that someone had given him the task of transporting the gold, in lieu of which he was supposed to get a commission.
He is yet to reveal the details about whose gold was he transporting.
The cops are yet to find the true value of the gold, as the Rs 17 crore was informed by Manish.
The cops would measure the value after weighing the gold.
As per the RPF official, the weight of gold is more than 17 kgs, the value of which is in lakhs.
A case of illegal smuggling has been filed against Manish and the cops are trying to find out whose gold was he transporting, her per his claims.
