New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has turned 51 today. Congress party informed that he decided to not celebrate his birthday this year in view of the Coronavirus situation, urging party workers to not organise any kind of celebration on the occasion.


Instead of grand celebrations, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) have planned to organise a free Covid vaccination drive at their office along with other activities.

General Secretary KC Venugopal wrote a letter to the state Congress committees and various organisations of the party in this regard.


The party told the state Congress committees that they would distribute ration, medical kits, masks and sanitisers among the needy.


The National Students Union of India and Indian Youth Congress have planned to organise a free Covid vaccination campaign for the people at their office.


Speaking about this, NSUI National President Neeraj Kundan said: "Our leader Rahulji believes that rather than chasing virus we should get vaccinated so that virus cannot chase us. Rahul ji has said that vaccination is the best possible way to protect people amid the pandemic".


 


Similarly, the IYC will be holding vaccination drives across the country for the senior citizens, daily workers and frontline workers who have not been vaccinated.

IYC media in charge, Rahul Rao said: "On the birthday of Rahul Gandhiji we have planned to distribute ration kits, sanitisers, face masks among the people across the country."

He added that if people are not registered on Cowin, the IYC activists will help the people in getting them registered. The IYC leader also informed that it will provide medicines for Covid patients across the country.
