New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted a picture with some opposition leaders on Friday post an event called ‘Ideas for India’ in London. Along with the picture, he hailed democracy saying that democracy in India is a global public good.
Gandhi wrote, “Democracy in India is a global public good. We're the only people who have managed democracy at our unparalleled scale.”
He further added that it was an enriching experience at the forum. He wrote, “Had an enriching exchange on a wide range of topics at the #IdeasForIndia conference in London.”
Gandhi also shared a picture in which some opposition leaders were visible. The picture had Rashtriya Janata Del’s Tejashwi Yadav, Manoj Jha, Trinamool Congress’ Mahua Moitra, and Communist Party of India’s Sitaram Yechury.
The event was also attended by senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid and party spokesperson Gurdeep Singh Sappal.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Gandhi will also interact with students at the Cambridge University on May 23 and address them on ‘India at 75’.
As per PTI, Gandhi has had a series of interactions with students of many foreign universities in the past few months as part of his efforts to reach out to the diaspora.
The ‘Ideas for India’ conference was organised by Bridge India from May 18-20. Bridge India is an Indian diaspora think tank in the UK. The three-day conclave had a variety of speakers from the UK, India, Europe, and other parts of the world.
