After reaching Indore as a part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday received a bomb threat. A threatening letter has been received at a sweet shop in Juni, as per the sources.
Indore Police and Crime Branch are looking for the person who left the letter at the sweet shop. According to sources, the police is closely examining the CCTV footage installed around the Juni Indore police station area. On 24 November, Rahul Gandhi will rest the night at the Khalsa Stadium in Indore. According to police sources, this incident could be the handiwork of a mischievous element. The police has started investigating this entire matter.
Former Congress leader Hardik Patel, who quit the party in June and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, said that Rahul Gandhi needs to undertake a "Congress Jodo" exercise instead of the ongoing "Bharat Jodo Yatra". On being questioned about Rahul Gandhi doing a rally in poll-bound Gujrat, Patel said, "Congress should first do Congress Jodo instead of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The question is whether Rahul Gandhi will come after the elections or before the elections. The people of Gujarat do not want to entertain Congress."
"I have been in the Congress and I know that the Congress has always insulted the Gujaratis and raised questions on the identity and pride of Gujarat. The people of Gujarat have never accepted Congress and will never do also. There is no comparison or fight between BJP with the Congress. Our motive is to take our model of development further," he added.
Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7 from Kanyakumari, will cover a further distance of 2,355 km in its 3,570-km march. It will end in Kashmir next year. It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress claimed earlier in a statement. Bharat Jodo Yatra is getting support from various political parties and social organizations across the country and the response is increasing day by day.
Notably, all the party MPs, leaders, and workers, along with Rahul Gandhi, are in containers. Sleeping beds, toilets, and ACs are also installed in some of the containers. The arrangements have been made keeping in view the intense heat and humidity with the change of places. The Congress suffered a debacle in the assembly polls held earlier this year and the Yatra is seen as an attempt to rally the party rank and file for the upcoming electoral battles.
