According to him a triad of forces- foreign relations, neighbourhood, and economy protects a country and its disruption can cause problems such as what is being faced by India.

The video comes at a time when the party is facing a political crisis in Rajasthan  and has ousted its leader Sachin Pilot. The 3 minutes and 38 seconds long video was shared on his Twitter page on Friday. In the post, he wrote, ‘Since 2014, the PM’s constant blunders and indiscretions have fundamentally weakened India and left us vulnerable. Empty words don’t suffice in the world of geopolitics.’

Foreign relations

Gandhi focusses on foreign affairs in the video and said that India’s relationship with the west and neigbhouring countries has deteriorated.

‘Our relationship with the outside world used to be with multiple countries. Today our relationship has become transactional. We have a transactional relationship with the United States. We have disturbed our relationship with the Russians,’ said Gandhi in the video.

About India’s neighbouring countries Gandhi said, “Earlier Nepal was a friend. Bhutan was a friend. Sri Lanka was a friend. Our neighbourhood, other than Pakistan was working with India and saw itself as being partnered with India. Today Nepal is angry with us. Sri Lankans have given a port to the Chinese. Maldives is disturbed. Bhutan is disturbed. So, we have disrupted our foreign partners. We’ve disrupted our neighbourhood.’

Economic failure

Gandhi who has been criticising the government regarding the economic impact of the pandemic and lockdown takes up the same issues in the video.

‘Our pride, something that India used to go to the rest of the world and talk about, boast about, worst economic growth in 50 years no end in sight.  Absolute disaster. Unemployment highest in 40 - 50 years so our strengths have suddenly become our weaknesses,’ said Gandhi.

He emphasizes that the disruption in these factors is what has made India appear vulnerable and enabled the Chinese attack.
