New Delhi: After the high political optics between Congress and UP government over Hathras case, FIR was lodged against 200 Congress workers including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who were detained and sent back to Delhi while they were trying to reach Hathras to meet the family of victim of the gangrape and murder case.

The FIR has been lodged under the Epidemic Diseases Act for not maintaining social distancing and not wearing face masks, under the Indian Penal Code sections 188 which is disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant and section 269 which penalizes unlawfully or negligently spreading infection of any disease dangerous to life.

In a statement the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police said that FIR was also registered against Congress workers who got into a scuffle with the cops doing their duty during which uniform of a lady constable got torn.

The high voltage drama saw cops roughing up Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after which he fell down and received injuries, and later the police resorted to lathicharge on the Congress workers.

The cops detained Rahul along with his sister and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and some other senior leaders, while they were walking towards Hathras to meet the family of the deceased gangrape victim.

However, they were soon released and sent back to Delhi by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Rahul Gandhi, along with his sister Priyanka and other senior leaders had left Delhi on Thursday to meet the family of the Hathras gangrape victim. However, they began marching towards Hathras after their vehicle was stopped near the Yamuna Expressway.
