Rahul Gandhi Detained By Delhi Police For Protesting Against Sonia Gandhi's ED Summon

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been detained by the Delhi police for taking out a protest from Parliament to Vijay Chowk.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been detained by the Delhi police for taking out a protest from Parliament to Vijay Chowk against the probe being conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper against party president Sonia Gandhi.

Congress leaders Ranjeet Ranjan, KC Venugopal, Manickam Tagore, Imran Pratapgarhi, K Suresh were also detained for taking part in the protest march.

Earlier in the afternoon today, Sonia Gandhi reached the Enforcement Directorate office for second round of questioning in the National Herald newspaper case.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also accompanied her mother to the ED office. Vadra had on Thursday too stayed back with the 75-year-old Congress president to provide medicines and other medical care.

Sonia Gandhi was questioned by ED on Thursday for nearly two hours where she replied to 28 questions put forth by the agency probing alleged financial irregularities in the case.

As the probe took place huge protests were carried out by the Congress party and its workers in different parts of the country.

Instances of violence were also reported during the protest including in Bengaluru where Youth Congress workers allegedly set a car on fire, in front of ED office.

The Congress has slammed ED's action against its top leadership and called it "political vendetta"
