Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded resignation from the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Misra Teni in Lok Sabha during the Question Hour. Opposition voices became louder after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) called the Lakhimpur incident a 'pre-planned conspiracy to murder'.

Ajay Misra's son Ashish is among the 13 accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence that took place in October. The Congress and other opposition parties are saying that Ajay Misra is shielding his son in the Lakhimpur case. Rahul Gandhi demanded Misra's resignation over the same.

"We should be allowed to speak about the murder that was committed in Lakhimpur Kheri, where there was an involvement of the Minister & about which it has been said that it was a conspiracy. The Minister who killed farmers should resign and be punished," said Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha.

"The minister must be removed. He is a criminal," added Rahul Gandhi. The Congress leader was speaking during the Question Hour. He was not allowed to speak on the matter by the speaker of the house as the designated Question, i.e question no. 262 was about the 'Losses In MSME Sector'. Even after that, opposition parties were adamant about the resignation of MoS Misra and crowded the well of the house. Speaker Om Birla adjourned the house amid the ruckus till 2 pm on Thursday.

Farmers have alleged that Ashish was inside an SUV that rammed a crowd of protesting farmers, leading to the death of four. Priyanka Gandhi had earlier demanded an inquiry into the role of the Union Minister in the "conspiracy".

"Due to the court's rebuke and because of 'satyagraha', now even the police is saying that the son of the Minister of State for Home had conspired and crushed the farmers," the Congress leader said.
