New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was spotted laughing and speaking with a few children as he shared a candid moment with them after flagging off the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Manipur's Thoubal district on Sunday.

The children could be seen talking to him as he picked them up, and made them sit on his lap to click selfies.

He was also seen interacting with the locals over tea in Thoubal.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was flagged off in Manipur and will end after 67 days in Mumbai on March 20 or 21 after traversing 6713 kilometres, 15 states, 110 districts, and across 100 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Congress decided to kickstart the yatra at the Khongjom War Memorial due to its historical significance. Starting the yatra in Manipur also enabled the party to draw attention to the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, which has claimed the lives of about 180 people since May.

The ideological yatra is being carried out by Congress against the Modi government's 'anyay kaal,' a term coined by the party to refer to the 10 years since Narendra Modi assumed the prime ministerial chair.

Congress General Secretary, in a press conference on Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, was quoted as saying, "Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Khongjom in Manipur to Mumbai in Maharashtra starts Sunday to raise our voice for economic justice, social justice, and political justice, to raise our voice against the ANYAY KAAL of the last 10 years."

As per the party, the yatra is a means of voicing their opinions and raising people's issues, as the ruling government deprived them of this opportunity in Parliament.

Congress is hopeful that the Bharat Jodo Yatra will act as a means of re-establishing the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity upheld by the Constitution of India.
