New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and in charge of All India Congress Committee of Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi were in Amethi today where they held a rally ahead of the much-awaited Assembly elections.

During the rally, Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the middle class and poor were badly affected by his decisions. He further said that the major reason for unemployment was demonetisation and wrongly implicated GST and no help during Covid crisis.

Rahul further attacked the government and said unemployment and inflation were some of the biggest questions which neither the Prime Minister nor the Chief Minister would answer.

You are aware of the situation today. Unemployment and inflation are the biggest questions that neither the CM nor PM will answer. PM was taking a dip in Ganga a few days back but won't talk about unemployment. I'll tell you why the youth is deprived of employment, ”he said as reported by ANI.

He thanked the people of Amethi and said that they taught him “a lot about politics.” “I came into politics in 2004. Amethi was the city where I contested my first election. People of Amethi have taught me a lot about politics. You have shown me the way to politics and I want to thank each and everyone from Amethi,” Rahul said.

Assembly elections for the state of Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to be held next year and all the political parties are preparing in full swing to form their government.

While Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were in Amethi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Shahjahanpur where he inaugurated the Ganga Expressway stretching from Bijauli village near Meerut till Prayagraj. Whereas Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was in Raebareli to campaign for his party.
