New Delhi: Hours after the hullabaloo over reports of Rahul Dravid likely to attend an event organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh, India's head coach on Tuesday refuted the claims and termed the rumours to be 'incorrect'. Earlier in the day, several media reports claimed that Dravid would be participating in BJP Yuva Morcha's National Working Committee session in Dharmshala scheduled to be held from May 12 to May 15.

"A section of media has reported that I will attend a meeting in Himachal Pradesh from May 12-15. I wish to clarify that the said report is incorrect," the former batsman told news agency ANI.

The buzz started after BJP Dharmshala MLA Vishal Nehria had claimed that Dravid will be attending the event organised by the saffron party. He said that Dravid's presence will send a message to the youth to excel in different fields.

"National Working Committee of BJP Yuva Morcha will be held in Dharamshala from May 12 to 15. National leadership of BJP and leadership of Himachal Pradesh will be involved. BJP National President JP Nadda… and union minister will also attend the session," Naheria said.

"Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid will also participate in this. Owing to his success, a message will be given among the youth that we can move forward not only in politics but also in other fields," he added.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly is due for elections and is most likely to take place in November-December this year with BJP leadership including national president J P Nadda and chief minister Jai Ram Thakur taking charge of the poll campaign.
