AAP MPs Raghav Chadha has been suspended from the House for gross violation of rules and contemptuous conduct pending a report of the Privileges Committee. The development comes on the last day of the monsoon session of the Parliament. The House also accepted the motion to extend the suspension of AAP's Sanjay Singh till the Council gets the benefit of a report by the Privileges Committee.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced, "...I suspend Raghav Chadha from the service of the Council till the Council has the benefit of the report by the Committee of Privileges."
He said, "...I find it expedient to refer the matter to the Committee of Privileges...suspension order dated 24th July 2023 may continue beyond the current session till the Council has the benefit of recommendation by the Committee of Privileges."
Raghav Chadha on Thursday said BJP's lies would be exposed after four MPs accused the AAP MP of proposing their names for the constitution of a select committee on the Delhi Services Bill without their consent. Speaking at a press conference, Chadha challenged the BJP to show him the piece of paper where they claimed the forged signatures were made.
"A baseless rumour is being spread. I challenge the BJP leaders to show me the piece of paper that has those signatures," Raghav Chadha said.
"The Rajya Sabha rule book states that no signature or written consent of a member, whose name has been proposed for the select committee, is required. It nowhere states that you require signature or written consent from that proposed member," the AAP MP further said.
