New Delhi: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El –Sisi expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him a grand welcome and inviting him to the Republic Day parade. He also said discussions on trade and investment and how to further expand cooperation in import and export were held with PM Modi.


“Tomorrow I am going to take part in the Republic Day parade. I am thankful to PM Modi for such a grand welcome. During our discussions, we talked about trade and investment and how to further expand our cooperation in import and export,” Abdel Fattah El –Sisi said.






The Egyptian President said that discussions were also held about the fight against terrorism and the security cooperation between Egypt and India.


We spoke about fighting against terrorism, and also discussed COP 27. We also discussed the security cooperation between Egypt and India. I have thanked PM, Modi, for inviting Egypt as a guest country for the upcoming G20 summit: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El –Sisi.


Abdel Fattah El –Sisi said that India and Egypt are old cultural civilisations. He further stated that discussions about the issue of connectivity were also discussed between the two countries in order to boost tourism. “We also discussed cooperation in Green hydrogen and renewable energy sectors. Abdel Fattah El –Sisi hailed PM Modi and said he has full confidence in him that he will take his nation forward. He also invited PM Modi to Cairo, Egypt to take the relationship with Egypt forward. “I met PM Modi in 2015 in New York and I had full confidence in him. I knew he will take his nation forward. I have invited Prime Minister Modi to Cairo, Egypt to take our relationship forward,” the Egyptian President said.


PM Modi on Wednesday met visiting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The two leaders shook hands and posed for the cameras before proceeding to the meeting and delegation-level talks on bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest.


The Egyptian President who arrived in New Delhi last evening was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, and several other leaders were present on the occasion. Sisi will be the Chief Guest on India's 74th Republic Day, marking the first time the President of Egypt has been invited as chief guest on India's Republic Day.


For his official visit to India from January 24-27, Sisi is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including five ministers and senior officials. Ahead of his meeting with PM Modi today, Sisi laid a wreath at Rajghat and paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi. The Egyptian President also held discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today.
