Qatar Airways' Delhi To Doha Flight Diverted To Karachi Airport, Airline Reveals Reason

The incident is currently under investigation and a relief flight is being arranged to transport passengers onwards to Doha. 

New Delhi: Qatar Airways flight QR579 was on Monday diverted to Karachi airport in Pakistan after it declared an emergency due to an indication of smoke in the cargo hold.

Over 100 passengers were on board the Delhi to Doha flight, news agency ANI reported.

 Qatar Airways informed that flight QR579 from Delhi to Doha was diverted to Karachi after having declared an emergency due to an indication of smoke detected in the cargo hold.

"Aircraft landed safely in Karachi where it was met by emergency services and passengers disembarked," it stated.

The airline added that the incident is currently under investigation and a relief flight is being arranged to transport passengers onwards to Doha. 

Meanwhile, as the flight was diverted, a passenger took to Twitter and complained that those onboard were not given information about the same.

"What is the status of QR579 - Delhi-Doha, diverted to Karachi? No information being offered, no food or water being offered to passengers. Customer care is clueless. Please help," a Twitter user wrote.

 Qatar Airways has apologised for the inconvenience to passengers and stated that they will be assisted with their onward travel plans, as reported by ANI.
