New Delhi: The leaders cutting across party lines condemned the murder of popular Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, who had joined the Congress before the Punjab Assembly elections, and cornered Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said he is "deeply shocked" at the broad daylight murder of Moose Wala.

“Deeply shocked at the broad day light murder of Sidhu Moosewala. Punjab & Punjabis across the world have lost a talented artist with mass connect, who could feel people’s pulse. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and fans across the world,” he tweeted.

Congress leader Pawan Khera called the death of Moose Wala, who had joined the grand old party in December last year, “absolutely shocking”.

“Absolutely shocking. #SidhuMoosewala,” he tweeted.

Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh hit out at the AAP government and said the law and order has completely collapsed in the state.

“Brutal murder of Sidhu Moosewala is shocking. My profound condolences to the bereaved family. Law and order has completely collapsed in Punjab. Criminals have no fear of law. @AAPPunjab government has miserably failed. Nobody is safe in Punjab!” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa held Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Mann responsible for the brutal killing of Moose Wala.

“I urge @HMOIndia to order an enquiry into how & who leaked the confidential list of people whose security was withdrawn by @AAPPunjab Govt @ArvindKejriwal & @BhagwantMann are responsible for the brutal killing of #SidhuMoosewala whose security was withdrawn yesterday,” he tweeted.

Sirsa in a video message said that the law and order situation in Punjab is totally out of control now.

“Law and order situation in Punjab is totally out of control now. Yesterday @AAPPunjab Govt removed security of social celebrities & today famous #PunjabiSinger @INCPunjab leader #SidhuMoosewala shot at by unknowns at Mansa,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform and shared the video message.

The BJP leader’s outburst came as the incident took place a day after the Punjab government withdrew Moose Wala’s security cover.

Moose Wala, who had contested the assembly polls on a Congress ticket, was shot dead in Jawaharpur village of Punjab’s Mansa district.
