New Delhi: It was all chaos during lunch time at a resort in Punjab where schoolteachers and principals had gathered to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. After the meeting, they had assembled for the lunch arranged for them, and a purported video from the resort shows all hell broke loose as the teachers jostled to grab their free plates. The video of the incident, which took place on Tuesday, is going viral on social media.
The Punjab CM had reportedly called the meeting of government school principals and teachers to seek their inputs as the Aam Aadmi Party looks to raise the bar of school education in the state.
Mann, who had launched an online portal to seek ideas and suggestions from teachers to bring “out of the box” educational reforms, said the teachers should send ideas online through this portal to help change the conventional system of education and make it paperless, digitally empowered, PTI reported.
Asserting that his government is committed to stop the “brain drain” by bringing back industry in Punjab to provide jobs to the youths, the Chief Minister said the people have lost faith in the present government education system.
However, as the video suggests, the teachers created a mess after the meeting ended as they moved to the dining hall for lunch. Some teachers were seen elbowing each other and snatching the emptly plates.
One person, dressed in a suit, who appeared to be a staff member of the resort, hurriedly moved the plates to a corner and started distributing it one by one.
Twitterati reacted to this chaos created by the teachers.
“Lunch time of Principals and Teachers in Punjab after meeting CM. Time to go to HEYWARD. CM might have gone home with some HEYWARDS,” a user wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
The AAP government in Punjab had arranged air conditioned buses for the teachers to reach the meeting venue, according to reports.
