Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday hits out at Gurdaspur MP and bollywood actor Sunny Deol for abandoning his constituency since his win in 2019, news agency ANI reported. Slamming Sunny Deol, Kejriwal stated: "Last time, you all voted for Sunny Deol. Did he ever come here? He never came, so what was the benefit? We all thought that he was a big actor, and if we vote for him, he will do something. These big people are not going to do anything. Give your vote to 'Aam Aadmi', they will at least come to your use."

Sunny Deol ruled out a re-election attempt earlier this year, claiming he is not "cut out for politics" and does not want to run again. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Deol had stated: “I don’t want to contest elections anymore. I will remain an actor and continue to serve the country like I have always done. I sincerely believe that what I can give to the youth of this country is by being a good actor and bringing out good projects."

Gurdaspur-based Lok Sabha MP Sunny Deol did not spend even a single day in the House during this year's parliament's monsoon session. This is not the first time that BJP MP Deol has reported no attendance during the session, The Tribune reported. Until 2019, when he was elected MP, he had zero attendance in four sessions and a total attendance of 19% till then.

Deol's engagement in the farm legislation demonstrations organized by Punjab farmers appeared to be restricted to posting social media messages praising the Centre's viewpoint.

By a margin of 82,459 votes, Deol beat Sunil Jakhar, who was running on a Congress ticket, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
