New Delhi: After Navjot Singh Sidhu withdrew his resignation from the post of Punjab Congress chief, the Congress leader has now insisted on a meeting with party president Sonia Gandhi to present a 13-point agenda for the party’s campaign for the Assembly polls due next year. In his letter to Sonia Gandhi posted on Twitter, Sidhu said it is “Punjab’s last chance for resurrection and redemption.”
The letter dated October 15 was shared by the Congress leader on Sunday where he highlighted agendas for the campaign including justice in sacrilege cases, Punjab’s drugs menace, agricultural issues, employment opportunities, sand mining, and welfare of backward classes.
In the letter, he sought time from her 'to present a Punjab Model with 13 point agenda to be part of Congress Manifesto for 2022 Assembly polls.'

Sidhu had resigned from the post of Punjab Congress chief on September 28 and shared the update on Twitter. However, Congress did not accept his resignation and suggested he meet senior leaders in the national capital.
Infact, earlier this week, Sidhu also met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi following his meeting with AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal and Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat at the AICC headquarters. Rawat also attended the meeting with Gandhi, which lasted for one and a half hours.
Rawat on Friday said Sidhu has been “assured” that his concerns will be address and that he will soon resume his duties as the state chief.
After the meeting with Gandhi, Sidhu told the media: “Whatever concerns I had, I shared those with Rahul ji. All those concerns are sorted out”. He didn’t divulge any information on his resignation.
Rawat, who was also present at the meeting, later hinted that the issue of his resignation is over .
