Chandigarh: Punjab Police has claimed to uncovered a major terror conspiracy in the state.


Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta informed in a press conference in Chandigarh that a tiffin box bomb and 5 hand grenades were recovered near the Indian border in Amritsar's Daleke village. 


Police said the tiffin box bomb was equipped with an IED. DGP Dinkar Gupta said that a suspicious object was thrown into India by a drone from across the border in the Amritsar area. This was reported to the police by the local village sarpanch after which a search operation was conducted.

Dinkar Gupta said the major conspiracy has been foiled. IED has been found in this tiffin box brought by the drone. Around 100 cartridges have also been recovered.


The explosives in the Amritsar village were recovered on Sunday evening.


The village Sarpanch had informed the police that a drone had entered India from the Pakistan border. It dropped a suspicious object and went back. 


DGP Dinkar Gupta said the NSG (National Security Guard) team was called on the spot. He informed that there can be 2 to 3 kg of RDX in the recovered material.
