Three people were killed and 10 were injured in a tragic accident in Hoshiarpur's Mukerian in Punjab when a bus collided with a truck. The incident occurred after the bus rammed into a stationary truck on the side of the road, which the driver couldn’t see due to dense fog on Wednesday morning. The bus, carrying 30 policemen, was on its way from the Punjab Armed Police institution in Jalandhar to Gurdaspur when the accident occurred at approximately 7 am in Mukerian, located 54 km from Hoshiarpur.
According to ANI, the Mukerian Police Station Incharge, Joginder Singh, stated that the incident occurred around 6 AM when the driver was returning from Jalandhar PAP (Punjab Armed Police). The vehicle collided with a trailer on the side of the road. The casualties include the driver, a lady constable, and another policeman who lost their lives. Additionally, 3 to 4 other policemen sustained injuries. The incident involved a bus carrying the policemen, traveling from Jalandhar PAP center to Gurdaspur.
Mukerian Police Station Incharge Joginder Singh told ANI, "At around 6 am, the driver was coming from Jalandhar PAP (Punjab Armed Police). It collided with a trailer on the side of the road. The driver, a lady constable, and another policeman have lost their lives. 3 to 4 other policemen are injured. A bus full of 15-20 policemen was going from Jalandhar PAP center to Gurdaspur."
The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-inspector Hardev Singh, senior constable Gurpreet Singh, who was the bus driver, and woman constable Shalu Rana. Their bodies have been kept in the mortuary of the Mukerian Civil Hospital, according to a PTI report.
Meanwhile, the injured were admitted to civil hospitals in Dasuya and Mukerian.
