New Delhi: Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday filed his nomination from the Bhadaur assembly seat (Bhadaur Election 2022) in Barnala. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Pirmal Singh Dhaula had won from the Bhadaur constituency last time by a huge margin while Congress candidate Joginder Singh was at number three.


In the 2022 assembly elections, AAP has fielded Labh Singh from the Bhadaur seat, Punjab Lok Congress has fielded Dharam Singh Fauji, and Shiromani Akali Dal has fielded Satnam Singh. Since the formation of the seat, till date, it had won only in the years 1969 and 2012.

Apart from Bhadaur, CM Channi is also the Congress candidate from Chamkaur Sahib. In the 2017 elections, Channi was the candidate from Chamkaur Sahib and won by getting 61,060 votes. In the current election, AAP has fielded Charanjit Singh, BSP has fielded AIG Harmohan Singh Sandhu, BJP has fielded Darshan Singh Shivjot, LIP has fielded Raghbir Singh Garang and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has fielded Parminder Singh.


Channi is a three-time MLA from Chamkaur Sahib
In the last election, AAP had fielded Charanjit Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal had fielded Justice Nirmal Singh, BSP had fielded Rajinder Singh from the Chamkaur Sahib seat. Since the formation of this assembly seat in Punjab, Congress has won in 1985, 1992, 2007, 2012, and 2017. Channi has won on a Congress ticket in all the three assembly elections from 2007 to 2017.
