New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National convener Arvind Kejriwal has announced in Chandigarh that the name of the Chief Minister face for Punjab from his party will be revealed next week. AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on a two-day visit to Punjab after recovering from Covid-19.
While making the announcement of revealing AAP's Punjab CM face, Kejriwal also talked about the law and order situation in the state. He said that during the Congress regime, there have been serious security issues including bomb blasts and even lapse in Prime Minister’s security.
While talking to news agency ANI, he took a jibe on the recent security lapse incident during the Prime Minister’s visit to Punjab.
“We assure people of Punjab to improve law & order situation & ensure justice in all previous incidents of sacrilege if AAP comes to power. Security will be ensured to all - be it PM or anyone else,” he said.
Punjab is scheduled to go to the polls on February 14 to elect 117 members for the legislative assembly. The result of the election will be announced on March 10, 2022.
The political landscape in Punjab has become heated up after Punjab Congress Committee (PCC) head Navjot Singh Sidhu attacked his own party command saying the CM of Punjab will be decided by the people of the state and not the party command.
While the ruling Congress party is facing flak for not fulfilling the promises, AAP co-in-charge Raghav Chadha said in a press conference that nobody takes Sidhu seriously.
Speaking to the media on January 7, Chadha said, “Even his own party members don’t take him seriously,” reported India Today.
