New Delhi: Amid the ongoing political discord in Punjab, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday met Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi in the national capital.

The Chief Minister after the meeting said the decision taken by the party high command will be acceptable to all.

“Whatever decision is taken by the Congress high command, we will go by it,” he said.

He, however, dodged questions related to cricketer-turned-politician and his challenger Navjot Singh Sidhu.

“I don't know anything about Sidhu saab…Whatever is the decision, whatever the Congress president wants, we will follow it,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the interim party chief.

The Chief Minister’s meeting with Sonia Gandhi assumes significance as the party top brass is trying to resolve the internal discord in Punjab Congress and there is speculation of changes in the party shortly before the assembly elections.

Sidhu is currently locked in a dispute with the Chief Minister whom he has been repeatedly targeting over the alleged delay in completion of investigations into the 2015 Sikh sacrilege case and the subsequent police firing on protesters.

There is speculation that Sidhu, who had earlier this month met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in Delhi, may get a key role in the proposed reshuffle.
