New Delhi: Drawing immense flak from the Opposition leaders over the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met the late singer and rapper’s family members at his residence in Mansa district on Friday.

Earlier in the day, protests erupted outside the late singer’s house ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit.

Accusing the Punjab Police of stopping them from entering the Moosa village by deploying heavy security, some locals held a protest in the area, PTI reported.

The police, however, said no one is being stopped from entering the village.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gurpreet Banawali was also stopped by the protesters.

Banawali, the AAP MLA from Sardulgarh constituency, faced protest from the locals on his visit to the later singer’s residence in Mansa, ANI reported.

This comes a day after Punjab ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met the late singer’s parents in Mansa and promised justice to the family.

The Congress has been blaming the AAP government for the killing and seeking a probe by a central agency.

Earlier on Wednesday, a delegation led by Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Warring had met Governor Banwari Lal Purohit in this regard.

Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, had lashed out at the AAP for not meeting the grieving family.

“It’s been four days and not one M.P or Minister of ruling party AAP has visited the house of Sidhu Moosewala and stood by the family in this hour of grief. CM Bhagwant Mann ji is this what you meant when you said our Govt will be for AAM AADMI?” he tweeted on Wednesday.

Moose Wala, who had unsuccessfully contested the assembly polls on a Congress ticket, was shot dead in Jawaharpur village of Punjab’s Mansa district last month.

The 28-year-old was shot dead a day after the Punjab government withdrew his security cover.
