The Punjab government has banned the use of firecrackers during upcoming festivals like Diwali and Gurpurab to prevent pollution. A directive issued by the Punjab government said that only green firecrackers will be allowed on Diwali and Gurpurab. Earlier, several states had banned the use of firecrackers.
According to guidelines issued by the government, the bursting of green crackers will be allowed only for 2 hours, that is, from 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali and Gurpurab. The government has said that the bursting of firecrackers is not allowed in Mandi Gobindgarh and Jalandhar. Earlier, firecrackers were also banned in Chandigarh, Delhi, and Haryana.
The order issued by the Department of Science and Technology says the orders were in view of the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). They said that only green crackers can be burst in the state. The use of these firecrackers won't pollute the environment much. At the same time, only two hours have been given to bursting crackers. Apart from Diwali, this rule will also apply for Gurpurab, Christmas, and New Year.
Several states banned on firecrackers
Many state governments have decided to impose a complete ban on the use of firecrackers. At the same time, buying and selling have also been banned. On the other hand, in some states, only green crackers have been allowed to be burst, although a time limitation has been fixed for the same. If someone breaks the rule, strict action may be taken against him.
