New Delhi: Soon after Rahul Gandhi slammed Narendra Modi government on Friday over the gruesome Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) teared into the Congress leader saying that he is making a 'dastardly comment' on the first anniversary of the terror attack.

Hitting out hard at Rahul Gandhi's tweet criticising Modi government, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra wrote on Twitter: "That (Pulwama) was a dastardly attack. And this is a dastardly comment. Who Benefitted the most? Mr (Rahul) Gandhi can you think beyond benefits? Of course not. This so-called 'Gandhi' family can never think beyond benefits. Not just materialistically corrupt, their souls are also corrupt (sic)."

Patra's response came hours after the former Congress President took to Twitter and blamed the incumbent Central government and asked who benefitted the most from the attack? Rahul Gandhi wrote: "Today as we remember our 40 CRPF martyrs in the Pulwama attack, let us ask: 1) Who benefitted the most from the attack? (2) What is the outcome of the inquiry into the attack? (3) Who in the BJP government has yet been held accountable for the security lapses that allowed the attack?"

As the nation commemorated the 40 CRPF men martyred in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir a year ago, the Congress lashed out at the BJP government alleging that the saffron party has been politicising the issue of the martyred troopers and has forgotten the families of the slain jawans.

The grand old party also demanded that the Pulwama investigation be made public. Taking to Twitter, the party said, "After the election speeches and photo-ops, the BJP govt has completely forgotten about the families of the martyrs."

"They promised them jobs & compensation, yet 1 year after the attack the families are forced to beg the govt for what is owed to them," the Congress said while highlighting the plight of the families whose sons were martyred in Pulwama.

Even Congress senior leader Shashi Tharoor demanded that the results of the Pulwama attack investigation be made public, "Why has the report of the Pulwama attack not been made public?" he tweeted.

The Congress has alleged that under the BJP's rule terror-related casualties ,infiltration across the LoC and attacks on Indian bases have increased. On February 14 last year, Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber Adeel Ahmed Dar drove an explosive-laden car into a convoy of security forces, killing 40 personnel.
