The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has a razor-thin lead of 1.8 per cent over the ruling Congress-led Secular Democratic Alliance (SDA) in the Union Territory of Puducherry as per Opinion Poll conducted by C-Voter in collaboration with ABP News.

Both alliances are gaining vote share at the cost of the Others. The projection for 2021 suggests the vote share of the SDA (Congress +DMK) will increase by just 3.1 per cent. The SDA, which received 39.5 per cent vote share in 2016, is expected to get 42.6 per cent vote share this time.

The NDA (AINRC + BJP + ADMK) is all set to gain this time. The NDA received just 30.5 per cent vote share last time but is all set to get 44.4 per cent vote share in the upcoming assembly elections due in April-May.

The projection, however, does not bring good news for the Others yet again as they are expected to get just 10.7 per cent vote share as compared to 30 per cent in the last assembly polls.

To add to the woes of the ruling alliance, the projection for 2021 suggests the SDA will win just 14 seats this time as compared to 17 in the last assembly polls. The NDA, on the other hand, is all set to increase its tally this time and bag 16 seats in the upcoming polls. The NDA won 12 seats in the 30-member Puducherry Assembly in the last elections.

The NDA must also be delighted over the fact that the Congress-DMK alliance may be headed for a collapse with the latter announcing on Monday that it will contest all 30 seats in the upcoming elections.

Senior DMK leader S. Jagathrakshagan made the announcement in this regard after a meeting of the party functionaries in Puducherry.
