Puducherry news: A 16-year-old girl, who had come to Puducherry from Mumbai along with her parents to celebrate Diwali at her relative's residence, was reportedly kidnapped and raped twice within a span of three days by auto driver and tourists. The issue came to light after she was found on Puducherry Beach Road on November 1.
On October 31, the police started an investigation into the case based on a missing complaint filed by the family.
According to the police, on October 30, the girl who had been staying with her parents at her relative's home left the house at night. She reportedly took the decision alone after an argument with her parents, reported New Indian Express.
While walking away from her home, she found an auto driven by Khawaja Moinuddin of Kottakuppam and told him to take her on a trip around Puducherry. However, Moinuddin reportedly fed her alcohol and took her to his home and raped her in Kottakuppam.
Later, he dropped her near Puducherry beach road. However, again four tourists from Chennai spotted and befriended her with promise to help and took her to their room and raped her in turns. They also kept her in confinement for a day and then dropped her off at the same spot, reported Times of India.
On November 1, the police found her wandering on the beach road and informed her family. Later, she was taken to a hospital where doctors found signs of sexual assault. The girl then revealed the sexual assault while interacting with Child Welfare Board.
Till now, the police have arrested four men including an auto driver from Kotakuppam and three others from Chennai. The police are also searching another man from Chennai reportedly accused in the case. The arrested techies were identified as Chitharanjan from Odisha and his colleagues Dinabandhu from Odisha, Ramesh from Telangana and Pankaj from Odisha.
