PUBG Ban?: Amid reports that the popular gaming app Player Unknown’s Battleground, which is shortened as PUBG, has come under the scanner of Government of India, the game app is changing is privacy policies in India, several media reports have said. In an attempt to avoid the government’s scanner, the updated privacy policy of PUBG Mobile has mainly to do with how it stores and manages users’ data.  It is reported that now the game will store the data of Indian users in India only.

PUBG has an India-only server based in India for the users here. It is also reported to have servers based in Singapore HongKong & the US.

As per the  privacy policy of the game, PUBG shares the date of the users with third parties for better user experience such as cloud services for data backup, support ticketing and fraud detection.

The privacy policy also states that the support, engineering and other teams are located in its offices around the world including People’s Republic of China, India (in case of users located in India only), the US & HongKongSAR will have access to player information.

The date of users such as open ID, IP address, device imformation like app version, OS version, Battery level etc registration time, login time & more, will remain in India and will not be used by the third  partis unnecessarily.

It is being said that GOI is mulling a ban on  275 chinese apps, in which PUBG is also included, soon after it imposed a ban on 47 Chinese apps. The popular video making & sharing portal TikTok also got banned in the first batch of apps to be banned. The government has cited that the suspected apps compromise the data of the users.
