New Delhi: In the wake of the violence in several parts of the country, including politically crucial Uttar Pradesh, on Friday against the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by two now-suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionaries, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded that high-resolution cameras be installed inside and outside every mosque and madrassa besides the areas dominated by the Muslims to monitor the activities there, PTI reported.

Asserting those trying to pollute the country’s peaceful and harmonious atmosphere will have to understand that India is run by the Constitution and not by the Shariat, VHP working president Alok Kumar asked the Muslim community to wait for the legal process in the matter related to the controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammed.

Kumar said the violence perpetrators, who are puppets of the fundamentalist, should be dealt with an iron hand.

He added that they should also be made to pay compensation for the damage to property.

The VHP working president in a statement alleged the jihadi Muslim leadership of the country is taking the common Muslims to the path of violence, which is neither in their interest nor that of the country.

Demanding that “high-resolution video cameras should also be installed inside and outside all the madrassas across the country”, Kumar alleged they “are rapidly becoming the factories of jihadist elements”.

Noting the administration is taking action in connection with the incidents of violence in different parts of the country on Friday, the VHP working president said the rioters will have to be dealt with more severely.

Kumar further said not only should the damage of the property be compensated by the rioters but the process for this should also be made simple and quick.

The VHP working president added the religious places, from where the alleged violent mobs came out and indulged in rioting, must also own up to their responsibility.

Alleging that efforts are being made to create an atmosphere of violence and hatred in the country over the controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad, Kumar said this is taking place despite the police already initiating proceedings by registering FIR in the matter.

The VHP working president said the Muslim community should follow the legal process quitting the path of violence and wait for the court’s decision in the matter.

Echoing similar sentiments, VHP’s national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said the outfit also demands that high-resolution video cameras be installed inside and outside every mosque and madrassa as well as in the Muslim-dominated areas for monitoring of the activities in these places.

Bansal told the news agency that command and operation of these cameras should be there with the local police station, adding the officers’ in-charge of these police stations should be held responsible if any untoward incident takes place.
