With Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government gaining popularity across the nation and brother Rahul Gandhi suffering electoral defeat in the party stronghold in the 2019 general elections, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday reached out to the people of Amethi and said the relationship is not political but that of a family.
Priyanka Gandhi said the family ties can never be weakened. “The relationship with Amethi is not political, it is that of home and family. It is an old relationship and a strong one. The relationship, which we had with the people of Amethi, the same is intact today, and it will be the same in future,” PTI quoted her as saying while addressing the Congress workers in Amethi’s Jamo block

The Congress general secretary also geared up the party workers for the challenges ahead and said “building the organisation is the first priority of all of us”.
Pradeep Singhal, the Congress party’s district unit chief, later said Gandhi also discussed the farm laws enacted by the Central Government last year.

“Priyanka Gandhi discussed the farm laws and said that the 'anti-farmer' laws are not only dangerous for the peasants, but for the entire country. She asserted that the government was not giving any attention towards the farmers protesting at the Delhi borders for the past two months against the laws,” said Singhal.
“She also talked about various steps taken in the interest of farmers in the Congress-ruled states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and others,” he added.
Singhal further said the Congress general secretary also sought information about the problems faced by the people of Amethi.
He added Gandhi took note of the fact that the Congress had to be strengthened till the booth level while asking the party workers to reach out to the poor and helpless beside the farmers and small traders.
Rahul Gandhi failed to retain his family pocket borough of Amethi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls where he was dealt a humiliating defeat by Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani.
