Congress leader and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge has said it's just a matter of time before Congress returns to power. He said southern India is already "BJP-mukt" and soon the same will happen across the country. Kharge said the party is already close to 40 per cent in Hindi heartland states.

"BJP-mukt Dakshin Bharat has already happened. Congress has close to 40% in the Hindi heartland...It's just a matter of time before we come together to come back to power..." he said.

This comes amid the ongoing rage among the opposition leaders over the mass suspension of 146 MPs during the recently concluded winter session of parliament. The I.N.D.I.A coalition leaders on Friday held a nationwide 'Save Democracy' protest against the suspension.

Both BJP and Congress have begun their planning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections which are nearly four months away and the Congress has the duel challenge of driving the I.N.D.I.A  bloc and regaining its countrywide strength. Congress lost Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh while it could not manage a fight in Madhya Pradesh.

However, the grand old party won in Telangana and ousted KCR rule in the state.
