Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Maharashtra's Pune, on Tuesday flagged off metro trains marking inauguration of completed sections of Pune Metro. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects. Speaking during the event, PM Modi slammed Congress governments in Karnataka and Rajasthan over the “lack of development” in these states and said that the development works are at standstill there.

"The Karnataka government has admitted that it has no funds for development of Bengaluru. Similar is the case in Rajasthan where the state is under a huge debt and development projects are stalled,” Modi said, as quoted by PTI. The PM was speaking after flagging off two new Pune Metro trains and inaugurating and laying foundation stone of Rs 15,000 crore development projects in Pune.

“Bengaluru is a global investors’ centre and IT hub, but the ill-effects of the state government’s announcement are seen there in such a short time. If any party, for its selfish interests, empties the state coffers, then people bear the brunt,” Modi said. “We are seeing the same situation in Rajasthan. Development works are at standstill there,” he said.

PM Modi also said that his government is working towards improving the quality of life of the people. "Foundation stone has been laid for around Rs 15000 crore projects here, thousands of families received proper house...Our govt is very serious about the quality of life of the middle class and professionals in the city...when the quality of life of the people improves, the development of the city also happens fast..." he said, as quoted by ANI.

"Our government is working towards improving the quality of life of the people," Modi added. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the waste to energy plant under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), which has been developed at a cost of about Rs 300 crore.

The plant will use up about 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to produce electricity, the PIB statement said. PM Modi will hand over more than 1,280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC. He will also hand over more than 2,650 PMAY houses constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

The PIB statement said Modi will also lay the foundation stone for around 1,190 PMAY houses to be constructed by the PCMC. The foundation stone of more than 6,400 houses to be constructed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority will also be laid by the PM.
